Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She is the youngest female and also the first woman to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising singer on Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. Her childhood years included a period of time between London as well as New Delhi. When she was 13, she gave her first show in New Delhi. Then she moved to Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording record. Since quite some time, she has been performing regularly with her father. In 1998 she released her first single album Anourag. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. Her stage career is very broad as she's been in every one of the world's major venues. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her youth split between London in the UK and Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and enrolled in the high school. When she was nine years old, she started studying music with her father making her performing first on the sitar four years later during his birthday party in Delhi. Her father traveled around the globe with her, and she gained many opportunities. As she was teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. It is the House of Commons Shield was awarded in her honor from the British Parliament for being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and the youngest winner of the prize.
